2026 Bond Information
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Healdton Public Schools will present a bond proposal focused on renovating Healdton High School so the existing building can continue serving students for many years to come.
The High School has been an important part of the community for decades, but several major systems and building components are reaching the end of their useful life. This bond allows the district to replace aging HVAC systems, improve energy efficiency with updated windows, and refresh key student spaces including lighting, ceilings, and interior finishes.
The proposal focuses on maintaining and improving the current facility while extending the life of the building in a responsible way. This investment helps ensure Healdton students continue learning in a comfortable, efficient, and well-maintained facility for years to come.

This bond focuses on renovating Healdton High School so the existing building can continue serving students for many years to come.
The goal is to update and improve the building by addressing:
- HVAC and mechanical systems
- Windows and natural light
- Exterior and interior finishes
- Key student spaces
-
The High School has served this community well for many years, but several major systems and building components are reaching the end of their useful life.
In addition to aging HVAC equipment, certain interior areas need repair, lighting is outdated, and windows need to be addressed to improve energy efficiency and overall performance.
If these needs are postponed, repairs will become more frequent and more expensive. Addressing them now allows the district to:
- Replace HVAC systems in a planned way
- Improve lighting and interior conditions
- Upgrade windows to improve efficiency and comfort
- Extend the life of the existing building
- Avoid emergency repairs and unplanned disruptions
The goal is to take care of the building now so it can continue serving students for years to come.
-
Depending on the final design and budget, improvements may include:
HVAC and Mechanical Systems
- Full replacement of outdated HVAC systems
- Removal of window units that affect performance and appearance
- Improved energy efficiency
Windows and Daylighting
- Replacement of infilled or outdated window openings
- Improved natural light
Interior Improvements
- Updated ceilings and lighting
- Improved wall finishes
- Library updated into a flexible commons space
- Flooring repairs while preserving original wood floors where possible
Exterior Improvements
- Updated signage and lighting
- Possible entrance improvements and canopies
-
The board’s goal is to preserve the existing structure while improving function and efficiency within a responsible budget.
Renovation allows the district to address core building needs without taking on the cost of new construction.
-
Proposition No. 1: $7,260,000
- $7,180,000 for High School improvements
- $80,000 for school-owned vehicle(s)
Proposition No. 2: $400,000
- Pupil transportation vehicles
-
The projected impact is approximately:
-
Healdton’s millage rate remains comparable to many surrounding districts.
-
Previous bonds in Healdton typically ranged from approximately $400,000 to $1.4 million and focused on specific projects such as AG and athletic improvements, roofing, parking lots, and targeted renovations.
This proposal is larger because it addresses major building systems across the High School rather than a single project.
These include:
- Full HVAC and mechanical system replacement
- Window upgrades to improve efficiency and comfort
- Exterior and Interior improvements and lighting updates
-
The project will use a phased construction approach. Major work will be scheduled during summer months, when possible, to limit disruption to students and staff.
-
To pass, this bond must receive at least 60% voter approval, as required by Oklahoma law.
If the bond does not pass:
- Aging HVAC systems will continue to deteriorate
- Outdated lighting and interior areas in need of repair will remain
- Energy inefficiencies tied to windows and building performance will continue
- Exterior improvements and updates will be delayed
- Major system replacements will need to be revisited in the future
The High School would continue operating, but needed improvements would likely become more urgent and potentially more costly over time.
-
Yes. Bond funds may only be used for the specific capital projects approved by voters.
They cannot be used for:
- Salaries

Bond funds are legally restricted to voter-approved building improvements and capital projects.
